The first time I heard people soup was during a New Moon intention setting night with two women who get it. What a brilliant term: people soup. Lines bleed, ends meet and familiarity is mixed equally with discomfort. Bodhi Yin, or Restorative Partner Yoga, are where I most find myself in people soup. The progression of indulging in stretches to becoming a numb, drooling blob, awwww yeah. That’s the soup!
There are always moments when I’m still, that I itch to fix, fidget, change just like we do in our lives. Inertia sparks panic, fidgeting and rash decisions but we can learn from restorative yoga to embrace inertia and realize there is always a deeper place to seep into. In all of those uncomfortable moments where we feel urged to overreact, we need to remember people soup. We need to remember to tap into numbness and drooling. People soup.
